When I learned of an essay of Heidegger's called "The Age of the World View," the mere words suggested to me, from my knowledge of Being and Time, a range of issues—that ours is an age in which our philosophical grasp of the world fails to reach beyond our taking and holding views of it, and we call these views metaphysics.1
